ADHD. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Illness, disadvantage, stigma, shame. CUT. Dance streaming into acrobatics on a Chinese pole, roller-dancing, cyr wheel on a slope, and a magical slowdown in hair-hanging. Acrobatics as a means of theatre language. Chaos, anxiety, need to get exhausted, aggression, calmness, tenderness, proximity and creativity. Flight through space and own head that can't be turned off.
In the performance, Novák focused on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The aim was to point out with the help of new circus techniques that ADHD is not an illness but a new quality of life. In preparation of the project, the director collaborated with psychologists, therapists, psychiatrists, neurologists, and children from special schools. The result became one of the theatre events of 2018.
"If I didn't have ADHD, I would never have been able to create our company. To establish Jatka78. If I didn't have ADHD, I would never start doing sports, or paint. I have ADHD and thanks to it I can TIRE myself but also my surroundings. I have ADHD and thanks to it I can RAVAGE myself but also my surroundings. I have ADHD and thanks to it I can DESTROY myself but also my surroundings. I have ADHD and thanks to it I can CREATE. I myself seek order in chaos. I seek joy in chaos. I seek smile in chaos. Sometimes I feel my brain is going to explode and then I am alone. I don't want to be alone, I want to be with you." – Rostislav Novák Jr.
